Medical Lead – Special Allocations Scheme (SAS)
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced GP to join our Special Allocations Scheme (SAS) as Medical Lead.
This leadership role offers the chance to make a real difference for patients with complex needs, including those who may have experienced trauma, social challenges or barriers to accessing mainstream healthcare. Working alongside a dedicated multidisciplinary team, you’ll provide clinical leadership, deliver high-quality patient care, and help shape and develop services across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.
About the Role:
As Medical Lead, you will:
- Provide clinical leadership and support to GPs, Healthcare Assistants and the wider clinical team.
- Deliver safe, evidence-based care through assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning and referral.
- Champion holistic, person-centred care that considers patients’ physical, psychological and social needs.
- Lead on clinical governance, quality improvement initiatives, incident reviews and service development.
- Build strong relationships with GP colleagues, healthcare partners and wider system stakeholders.
- Support the delivery of the Enhanced Access Service and Winchester Urgent Care Clinic, helping improve patient access and reduce pressure on urgent care services.
The successful candidate will work flexibly across our services, which operate during the following hours:
- Special Allocations Scheme (SAS): Monday to Friday, 8.00am–6.30pm
- Enhanced Access Service: Monday to Friday, 6.00pm–9.00pm and Saturdays, 9.00am–5.00pm
- Winchester Urgent Care Clinic: Monday to Friday, 6.30pm–11.00pm and weekends, 8.00am–6.00pm
Working patterns will be agreed during the recruitment process to meet service needs.
About You
We’re looking for an experienced GP who has:
- Full GMC registration with a licence to practise.
- Inclusion on the NHS Performers List (without restrictions or conditions).
- MRCGP (or equivalent recognised qualification).
- A minimum of three years’ post-CCT experience.
- Experience working within primary care.
- Excellent clinical judgement and communication skills.
- A commitment to clinical governance, continuous learning and improving patient outcomes.
Experience supporting patients with complex needs, including mental health, neurodiversity, substance misuse, homelessness or similar vulnerable groups, would be highly valued.
Working Hours: 30hours per week
Location: Segensworth (with travel to Havant, Waterlooville and Winchester)
