Introduction

The OPEL framework is widely used across the health system—including acute trusts, community health services, mental health services, and NHS 111—to provide a consistent method for reporting and managing operational pressures.

Each week, we ask general practice to use this reporting system, outlining their current OPEL rating along with practice‑specific comments reflecting local circumstances. These are published and emailed to practices and stakeholders.
