As a newly qualified GP within 2 years of qualification, you will undertake a variety of duties governed by our PMS contract to include:

• In person consultations
• Telephone consultations
• Visiting patients at home and in nursing homes
• Checking and signing repeat prescriptions
• Dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence as required
• All aspects of clinical administration

Please note, we do not require you to carry a patient list during the first year to allow you to settle into the pace of general practice.

This is something that will be discussed when you are ready and this additional responsibility is reflected with a pay uplift.

The Lodge Surgery is a friendly, well organised training practice in Chippenham serving a local practice population of 8,500 and is part of the proactive Chippenham, Corsham & Box PCN. We work hard to offer a friendly, supportive environment with a close-knit surgery team, offering regular practice meetings and a lovely garden for sociable coffee breaks / events.

The team achieve consistently high QOF results, are rated Good by CQC. We have a local reputation for offering a good, responsive service and we grateful to receive regular positive patient feedback.

We are always keen to nurture and support NQGP’s during their venture into general practice based on experience of recruiting our own registrars.

As a respected training practice, we offer GPST training and are affiliated to the Bristol Medical school and Imperial College London for 3^rd, 4^th and 6^th year undergraduate students.

Essential Qualifications:

• Already have or shortly to receive a CCT in General Practice ie; the applicant must be a qualified GP (passed AKT & SCA exams)
• Have a full GMC registration licence to practice
• The applicant must be active on the performers list and have a UK drivers’ licence

Desirable

• Experience of working within a GP practice using SystmOne

Main duties of the job

• Take accountability for the highest standards and professional decision making in relation to presenting problems.
• Screen patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
• Clinical management of your patients as appropriate, including initiating investigations, reviewing results, making referrals to secondary care or to other providers as appropriate.
• Develop care and treatment plans in consultation with patients and in line with current Practice disease management protocols as NICE guidance.
• Ensure the appropriate follow up of patients.
• Record clear and immediate consultation notes to agreed standards.
• Participate in clinical audits, learning events and practice meetings, within a culture of continuous improvement.
• Prescribe generically whenever appropriately and in accordance with the Practice prescribing formulary, NICE guidance and Good Prescribing Practice (as defined by BNF guidance).
• Play a role in the practice achieving agreed and other key performance indicator targets as shaped by the partners.
