Senior Doctors Condemn Proposal to Charge Patients to See GP

22 May 2014, The Telegraph

Dr Watson said:

"This is about a broader debate on how we fund general practice.

"It is increasingly difficult to recruit new GPs and retain older ones, practices are close to collapse, workload is increasing and we need more resources.

"I personally don't believe we should be charging patients. However the money can only come from taxation, from closing hospitals and diverting the money into general practice or from charging patients."
