If you are concerned about the welfare of a child or unborn baby you should consult with your manager or the designated person responsible for child protection in your organisation. If after discussion your concerns remain, you should make enquiries to the Multi-Agency Support Hub (MASH) in writing using the  MASH enquiry form .

If you believe a child is being mistreated and is at risk of harm, please contact the MASH team as soon as possible on 01481 723182. If the matter is urgent and outside of office hours you can contact the duty social worker on 01481 725241. If you think a child is in immediate danger please call the police.

If you are after support for a family which is beyond that provided by HV/ usual GP/ schools support but falls below the statutory threshold for intervention then you could choose to refer to the Earl Help Hubs – this can be done by you, the family, the HV, midwife, children’s centre or school. If you have any concerns because you think that a child might be being abused and you want to talk to someone or ask someone to find out what is going on, you should contact the Children’s Services Department.

Named GP Contacts

The named GPs each cover different geographical areas however they are also practicing GPs and therefore cover their named GP role part time. If you have any difficulty contacting the GP for your are when you need advice on the same day then please contact the Safeguarding admin team on 02380 627 645. They will then be able to advise you of the Duty Doctor for that day.

The MASH is multi agency and brings together services such as from social care, education, health, police and children centres. The MASH aims to work together to offer the right help at an early stage to families who need support.

The Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) responds to initial enquiries about children, young people and adults. The MASH is based at Guildford Police Station and combines Children's Service social workers, Adult's Service social workers, and health and police staff.
