PHE advice for Coronavirus
The NHS and PHE have issued a Primary Care Briefing document dated 18th February 2020 for Primary Care providers. The briefing document can be read via this link.
Public Health England have set up a guidance webpage for Interim Guidance in Primary Care of the COVID-19 (Wuhan novel coronavirus) that can be accessed via this link. They have also produced a flowchart for the management of any suspected case.
In addition to possible cases of the infection, any healthcare provider who identifies a contact of a known case of COVID-19 (Wuhan novel coronavirus) in China or elsewhere, should immediately notify their Health Protection Team, even if the contact is currently well. You can look up your local health protection team via this link .
If a member of the public has concerns that that they may have been exposed to or become infected with the novel COVID-19 (Wuhan novel coronavirus) they should be instructed to phone NHS111 and NOT be referred to the hospital Emergency Department unless they are seriously ill.
