PCN - Clinical Pharmacists Transfer Deadline
The GPC were told by many that the window to transfer Clinical Pharmacists from previous schemes to the new PCN ARRS scheme was too short. They have therefore agreed with NHS England that this will be extended to 31 March 2020. In order to reduce future risk (of including these CPs in the baseline) for all members of PCNs, the GPC advise that practices seriously consider transferring any CPs on the previous national schemes.
Any clinical pharmacists who were in post as at 31 March 2019 under the Clinical Pharmacist in General Practice Scheme who are not transferred to become a PCN clinical pharmacist, will no longer be eligible to do so after the revised 31 March 2020 deadline. Practices will therefore be responsible for fully funding the clinical pharmacist post after the tapering of the Clinical Pharmacist in General Practice Scheme funding, as the clinical pharmacist post will be included in the PCN baseline figures and will not therefore be eligible for reimbursement through the Additional Roles Reimbursement Scheme.
This extension to the deadline, (and the information about funding for covering management fees for subcontracts for Social Prescriber Link Workers) have been included in the latest update to the ARRS guidance and can be found at para 2.3.6 page 9 and 2.3.1 page 5 respectively.
