Wessex LMCs are looking to recruit TWO PART-TIME MEDICAL DIRECTORS . . .
Applications are invited from experienced General Medical Practitioners working in General Practice for the two part time posts of Medical Director within Wessex Local Medical Committees Ltd.
Wessex LMCs represents approx. 5,000 GPs / 450 Practices in Dorset, Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Wiltshire, Swindon, BaNES, Jersey, Guernsey and Alderney and is currently working with 2 NHSE Area Teams and 5 CCGs.
These are exciting and challenging times for General Practice. The pandemic has brought unprecedented change in General Practice and huge challenges still exist as we look to recover and to the future. Consequently, Wessex LMCs is seeing an equally unprecedented demand for our services and our offer to practices and individuals is ever expanding to meet local need.
Applicants will be required to develop a good working knowledge of the various GP / Primary Care Regulations in order to guide the LMCs members in regulatory, legal, and contractual matters as necessary. Much of this experience can be developed while undertaking the role. The most important attribute that we are looking for in a Medical Director is that of an experienced clinician who is passionate about being a GP and continues to work in General Practice, understanding the challenges faced by GP colleagues working in their practices.
We are looking for team players to work within the senior management team of the Wessex LMCs. They will liaise closely with Chairs, Vice Chairs and committee members of the Secretariat and 3 LMCs to deliver their agenda.
On behalf of Wessex General Medical Practitioners, the LMC works with a number of other organisations to ensure that the interests of our constituents and of the profession are represented and heard.
The candidates, initially at least, will cover the Hampshire and BSW areas between them but must be willing to travel. They should have good working knowledge of all aspects of primary care and GP partnerships. You will be required to act as a source of advice on a wide range of issues to GPs and Practice Managers seeking help from the LMC. You will develop and maintain good working relationships with the NHS England Area Teams, CCGs, local authorities and other local, regional and national organisations as appropriate, in order to reflect the collective views and opinions of the LMCs.
The Medical Director post will be based in Chandler’s Ford (between Winchester and Southampton – close to the M3). Working days are: Wednesday (essential), with some flexibility for the two other full days including remote working. The appointee will be expected to continue clinical work as a General Medical Practitioner.
