Practice Nurse (Full/Part Time) - Shepherds Spring Medical centre

Are you a caring and experienced Practice Nurse looking for a new opportunity in a friendly and supportive environment?

Shepherds Spring Medical centre is a forward-thinking, patient-focused GP practice committed to delivering high-quality, evidence-based care. We are seeking an experienced Practice Nurse to further develop our Asthma and COPD services, while also contributing to the wider General Practice Nurse role within our treatment room team.

Respiratory Role Responsibilities

· Manage Asthma and COPD clinics in line with NICE and local ICB guidance

  •  Undertake comprehensive respiratory assessments

· Perform and interpret spirometry and FeNO testing (desirable)

· Optimise inhaler therapy and provide personalised care plans

· Conduct annual reviews and QOF-related activity

· Support early diagnosis of COPD and Asthma

· Provide smoking cessation advice where appropriate

· Work collaboratively with GPs,  Nurses and the wider practice & PCN team

· Contribute to service development and quality improvement initiatives

General Practice Nurse Responsibilities

· Deliver treatment room services including wound care and complex dressings

· Removal of sutures and clips

· ECG recording

· Cervical cytology (smear tests)

· Childhood and adult immunisations

· Travel vaccinations (if trained)

· Chronic disease management support (e.g. diabetes, hypertension)

· NHS Health Checks

· Blood pressure monitoring and cardiovascular risk assessment

· Phlebotomy (if required)

· Contraceptive advice and administration (where trained)

· Infection prevention and control compliance

· Participation in clinical audits and practice protocols

Essential Qualifications & Experience

· Registered Nurse (Adult) – NMC Registered

· Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in respiratory care within primary care ( ideally)

· Evidence of competence in cervical cytology

· Competent in ECG recording

· Experience in wound care and treatment room procedures

· Experience managing QOF respiratory indicators

· Ability to work independently and make autonomous clinical decisions

Desirable Qualifications

· ARTP accredited spirometry certificate (or willingness to do the training/obtain the accreditation)

· FeNO manufacturer-accredited training (e.g., NIOX or equivalent device)

· Immunisation and vaccination training (including anaphylaxis & BLS updates)

· Experience with Emis
