Practice Nurse - University Health Service Southampton
About the Role
We are seeking a Practice Nurse to join our team at the University Health Service Southampton. Working within a vibrant campus community, you will play a vital role in supporting the health and wellbeing of our 38,000 students/patients.
We are looking for an aspiring leader. While you will start as a Practice Nurse there is an opportunity to develop the Lead Nurse role after at least one year of service.
You’ll be delivering a range of treatment room services while working alongside experienced GPs, nurses and our wider healthcare team.
Some examples of what you’ll be doing
- Providing wound care, compression bandaging and dressings
- Administering adult and childhood immunisations and vaccinations
- Carrying out cervical cytology screening tests
- Supporting patients with long-term conditions
- Carrying out ECGs, blood pressure checks and phlebotomy
- Helping maintain high standards of infection control
- Carrying out Doppler tests
- Initialising APBM tests for patients
What We’re Looking For
- A Registered Nurse with a valid NMC registration
- Experience in a GP practice or primary care setting desirable
- Enjoys autonomous working within a supportive team
- Values patient-centred, high-quality care
- Brings calm, compassion, and clinical confidence to every interaction
- A warm, approachable manner and good communication skills
It Would Be Great If You Also Have
- Familiarity with EMIS
- Spirometry Training
