Facilities & Maintenance Operative - Shore Medical

The Opportunity

Shore Medical is seeking an experienced Facilities & Maintenance Operative to join the team, this role works across all Shore practices with the focus being on maintaining an accurate filing system, process paper medical records, provide warehouse and delivery support, and undertake general maintenance and facilities duties.

This role will ensure the safe, efficient and effective delivery of records, stock and supplies while helping maintain practice buildings, grounds and equipment to a high standard.

Job Type: Part Time – 30 hours per week

Hours: 7.30am-1.30pm Monday to Friday

Hourly Rate: £15.00 per hour

Key Responsibilities

  • Follow best practices for health and safety within the warehouse, while driving and when carrying out maintenance activities.
  • Meet delivery schedules and operational deadlines.
  • Be responsible for the planned and ad hoc collection and delivery of vaccinations, medications and other temperature-sensitive clinical items across all six Shore Medical Group practices, ensuring all deliveries are completed safely, securely and within agreed timescales.
  • Ensure the Cold Chain Protocol is followed at all times when transporting vaccinations and temperature-sensitive medicines, including the correct use of approved transport containers, temperature monitoring equipment and documentation, and promptly reporting any temperature excursions or breaches in accordance with organisational policy.
  • Ensure the company vehicle is roadworthy and report any defects immediately including checks such as tyre pressures, servicing and MOT’s etc. The postholder will be responsible for delivering the vehicle to the garage and collecting.
  • Load and unload boxes, medical records, stock, furniture and equipment safely.
  • Track collections and deliveries using computer software and scanners.
  • Communicate effectively with warehouse staff, practice teams and management regarding deliveries, collections and maintenance requests.
  • Maintain an accurate filing system and records.
  • Support the Medical Records team in obtaining and processing patient records.

About You

  • Proven experience in a similar Facilities and Maintenance role- ideally in a GP/similar setting working independently
  • A clean, points free and valid full Manual Driver’s License. A clean and valid commercial driver’s license will also be considered. Driving delivery of stock and supplies
  • Physical ability to load and unload boxes and stand for frequent periods of time
  • Ability to unload, unpack, pack and load deliveries with frequent periods of lifting/moving equipment
  • Excellent vision and hand-eye coordination to stay safe while driving
  • Experienced in maintenance, repairs and logistics- with the ability to juggle multiple priorities
  • GCSE English & Maths and basic computer literacy-experience working with a filing system
