Dispenser - Twin Oaks Medical Centre

Please note – only dispensers with NVQ2 (or above) in dispensing services will be considered for this role.

Part-Time Vacancy – 11 hours per week

Thursdays & Fridays  8.00am-1.30pm

From time to time, you will also be asked to work additional hours to cover your dispensing colleague.

Overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic and reliable Dispenser to join our friendly village GP practice. This position requires a strong commitment to patient care, as well as the ability to work efficiently and accurately in a fast-paced environment. You must be able to demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to prioritise workload, and to be able to work independently whilst integrating with the existing dispensary team. This role will be based at our branch surgery in Burley in the New Forest.

 

Key Responsibilities

Dispensing & Clinical Support:

  • Dispense prescription medication and other medical products to patients under the direction of the GP Partners.
  • Count pills, label bottles and box medications to prepare prescriptions in accordance with SOPs.
  • Dispense controlled drugs and private scripts safely and in line with surgery SOPs.
  • Supply patients with information and education on their prescribed medication.
  • Assist with reviews of medication including the Dispensing Review of Use of Medication (DRUM) and reauthorisation process.
  • Answer patient questions regarding medication, under the supervision and guidance of the GP.
  • Date-check stock and dispose of returned medication in line with regulations and practice policies.
  • Place orders for medications and ensure availability of stock to meet patient demand.
  • Maintain and update electronic patient records accurately and confidentially.

Administrative & Operational Tasks:

  • Perform administrative duties including answering phone calls, receiving and inputting prescription requests, and handling prescription queries.
  • Source, purchase, and manage stock, ensuring timely ordering and accurate stock records. This will also involve managing stock to provide a cost-effective process.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organised dispensary environment.
  • Support with audits, inspections, and quality improvement processes.
  • Keep up to date with mandatory training and supplementary learning.
  • Support and assist other team members as required

Pay:  £12.45 to £13.45 per hour, depending on experience and completion of a probationary period.
