Business Manager - Forestside Medical Practice

Full time (37.5 hpw) with the possibility of compressed hours once established.

Forestside Medical Practice, situated in Hythe amidst the beauty of the New Forest, caters to a community of approximately 12,000 patients.

Our dedicated clinical team boasts three Partners, four salaried GPs, and a skilled array of ANPs, PNs, HCAs, and Phlebotomists. Supported by a proficient administrative and reception staff, we are in search of a skilled Business Manager to fill the void left by our retiring Practice Manager.

This role is pivotal as our organization undergoes transformation, and we’re actively seeking an experienced, forward-thinking leader to join our team during this critical phase of change at the practice. As a pivotal member, you’ll collaborate closely with Partners and the PCN, providing management and leadership to achieve our goals efficiently and effectively.

Here are some of the key responsibilities and qualifications for this role:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Management and Planning:
    • Ensure compliance with regulations, managing team performance and fostering positive change.
    • Coordinate meetings, develop protocols, and update procedures for efficient operations.
    • Collaborate with healthcare providers, stakeholders, and organisations to enhance care and initiatives.
    • Keep abreast of technological advancements and implement systems for optimal practice operations.
  • Financial Management:
    • Manage all partnership financial aspects, including budget performance and income maximisation.
    • Negotiate resource allocation, oversee cash flow, and handle practice accounts.
    • Ensure compliance with regulatory and financial obligations.
  • Leadership Role:
    • Oversee daily administrative operations, fostering a supportive practice culture.
    • Maintain effective communication with neighbouring practices, stakeholders, and networks.
    • Identify opportunities for collaboration and new funding streams.
  • Human Resources:
    • Lead recruitment, staff training, and compliance with policies and procedures.
    • Manage staff levels within budgets, handle payroll, and oversee personnel changes.
  • Organisational Role:
    • Ensure premises maintenance, procure supplies within budgets, and manage safety measures.
    • Develop Health & Safety policies, maintain insurance, and implement disaster recovery plans.
  • Quality and Patient Services:
    • Maintain quality standards, oversee patient services in accordance with guidelines, and monitor practice performance against targets.
    • Develop effective complaints management and patient engagement strategies.
  • Health & Safety and Facilities Management:
    • Manage premises, security, insurance, and health & safety risks, ensuring compliance.
  • Equality and Diversity:
    • Support equality, diversity, and patient rights in line with practice policies and legislation.

  • Ability to think strategically, handle pressure, drive change, and motivate teams.

Skills:

  • Excellent communication, leadership, time management, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in IT, negotiation, and policy implementation.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Leadership or Practice Management Qualification (preferred)
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in leadership roles, project development, and workforce planning.
  • Experience in financial management, accounting procedures, and multidisciplinary team management.
