Call to GP Practices to get Onboard Wessex Healthier Together
The Wessex Healthier Together website provides advice for parents, young people and pregnant women, and clinical resources to support healthcare professionals – which means that children are likely to receive consistently high-quality care, irrespective of which healthcare professional they see.
Sanjay Patel, Paediatrics Infectious Diseases Consultant at Southampton Children’s hospital who leads the Healthier Together programme, joins us to discuss the resources available in further detail to help change parental help seeking behaviour
The Healthier Together app aims to change the health-seeking behaviour of parents by providing them with the tools to evaluate the severity of their child’s illness when they are poorly.
Only by your practice formally onboarding will your patients have full access to the functionality of the app. We encourage practices to get onboard before the rise in winter respiratory viruses.

Paediatric Egg Allergy in Primary Care

Patient Safety – A Focus on Children and Teenagers
Dr Chrissy Boardman, CAMHS Doctor, talks to Dr Sarah Kay- GP Clinical Lead for Patient Safety at NHS Dorset about prevention of child and teenager suicides.
They discuss how to risk stratify presentations of self-harm, including the importance of establishing history of autism, eating disorder, or gender dysphoria or recent bereavement that may increase your index of concern. Resources to signpost patients and parents to as a practical way of supporting families are also highlighted.
