Introduction
The role of nurses in general practice has changed and evolved in the last 20 years and many of the activities undertaken traditionally by GPs are now undertaken by nurses. The role development has also been shaped by clinical, patient demand and workforce issues.
The GPN role plays an important part in the provision of care to patients and is essential for the sustainability of general practice.
