Care Certificate Assessor workshop
Wessex LMCs Ltd LEaD Account event
Wednesday 17 January 2018
This is a morning event.
Times: 09:30 - 13:30
If you have responsibility for assessing the Care Certificate, but not sure how you can do this effectively, then this seminar is for you. It is designed to answer all the questions you may have about assessment, providing you with all the confidence and skills you need.
We know that time away from the workplace is precious so we are packing lots of information, guidance and activities into this practical half day seminar; as well as knowledge and tools that you can take back to your workplace and start using straightaway.
The assessment of the Care Certificate should be a rigorous process and as an assessor of it you should be confident that what the learner has done is enough to meet the Care Certificate standards. This seminar will arm you with the tools you need to do this.
Using practical activities this seminar will look at the methods of assessment you can use, explore what makes ‘good’ evidence and how to make an assessment plan.
It will also help you think about what existing skills and knowledge you can develop to support the assessment of your staff; and the changes you need to make to ensure that you do have the right ways of doing this.
A ‘starter for 10’ - why is assessment of the Care Certificate important?
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) have an expectation that providers should follow the Care Certificate standards to make sure new staff are supported, skilled and assessed as competent to carry out their roles. The CQC Fundamental Standards state that providers should have systems in place to assess the competence of employees before they work unsupervised in a role.
Should you need any further persuasion that this seminar is for you then we’re pleased to announce that this series of seminars is being led by Tracey Nicholson, Project Manager for the Care Certificate here at Skills for Care. With over 20 years’ experience of assessment, verification and training including the design of learning programmes for those who assess and the leading of quality assurance teams for assessment centres, Tracey is well equipped to give the definitive answers on Care Certificate assessment.
