On the Agenda...

Angie Hack, Assistant Director of Nursing Programmes at QNI, will provide us with an update on GPN Standards/Framework for general practice. In addition to promoting district nursing and primary care nursing, Angie has been seconded to the QNI as an Assistant Director of Nursing Programmes to promote general practice nursing and lead on the management of the General Practice Nurse Education Network. Angie was awarded 'The Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Award' for outstanding service and became a Queen’s Nurse in 2016.

Compression Conundrum

She has authored a book for nurses on Menopause and HRT as well as numerous articles for women themselves.
Paediatric Health
Sanjay Patel will be talking on the ever popular topic of Paediatric Health. Sanjay is a Consultant in Paediatric Infectious Diseases and Immunology working at Southampton Children’s Hospital, and set-up the Healthier Together initiative across Wessex in 2014.
Respiratory Conditions
Respiratory Nurse Specialists, Carla Astles and Kerry Woodward, will be bringing you all the latest in respiratory conditions. Both Carla and Kerry have an extensive background in Primary Care and their areas of expertise include asthma, COPD and spirometry.
Anthony Bennett – Miracle Man
Stories can leave a lasting impression, and Anthony has an exceptional story to tell.
![]() |
Anthony Bennett is an ex-patient of Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital. He shares his extremely near-death experience of returning from a school trip to Disneyland Paris in 2006 that left him fighting for his life. Anthony caught multiple viral infections, was given a 10% chance of survival and suffered multiple cardiac arrests. Making a full recovery, he now brings to light the importance of teamwork, from the perspective of his family and the medical professionals during his time in hospital and the power of saying yes to opportunities in life. |
All this, and more, will combine to provide an interesting, educational day in a relaxed atmosphere, with time to chat and catch up with colleagues, enjoy lunch, and get away from the Practice for a day. We do hope you will be able to join us.
Subsidised Booking Options
Wessex LMCs hold a number of funds for different organisations, specifically for training purposes. By using these funds, many of our 'members' are able to access training without direct recourse to Practice Funds. It is important that you select the appropriate funding option in the booking process, so that we can assign your booking to the correct funding stream, and here is some guidance to help you decide.
All Nurses working within GP Practices in Dorset, BSW, North East Hants and Farnham
Please use this option if you are working in a Practice in Dorset, BSW, North East Hants and Farnham and do not fit into one of the other options on offer. This option may, or may not, have a cost attached.
Nurses working within GP Practices in Hampshire and Isle of Wight
We are delighted that Health Eduction England (Wessex) have agreed to subsidise this course for all members of the Nursing Team working in Practices in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. Please use this option if you are a member of the Nursing Team working in a Practice in Hampshire (excluding North East Hants) or the Isle of Wight.
NB: Unfortunately, some of your colleagues have previously booked places and not attended, preventing others from doing so. It must be stressed that the above options are funded from NHS monies, all of which must be accounted for. If, therefore, you select one of these subsidised options, and do not attend, or fail to cancel more than 2 weeks in advance, you will be charged the full member delegate fee. To cancel your booking please email: Lead@wessexlmcs.org.uk at least 14 days before the event date.
