Graham Philips is "the pharmacist who gave up drugs" and is passionate about optimising population and metabolic health, reducing obesity and the positive knock on effects that this has in reducing morbidity, reducing medication load, improving mental health and so much more.

"What’s the root cause of the obesity/diabetes pandemic?" If we are putting weight on, we are storing more calories than we are burning. What is the answer - is “eat less/move more” an oversimplistic view? Do other factors, like the type (rather than number) of calories and the impact of food on the insulin/glucagon and leptin/ghrelin axes play the largest part in the development of metabolic syndrome?

10:00 - 11:00  Optimising immunity and reversing metabolic syndrome in 21 days - a lifestyle prescription – Aseem Malholtra – Consultant Cardiologist and Obesity Campaigner.

45 min talk, 15 min Q&A

Aseem is a world-renowned expert in the prevention, diagnosis, and management of heart disease. He is a founding member of Action on Sugar and was the lead campaigner highlighting the harms caused by excess sugar consumption in the UK, particularly its role in type 2 diabetes. Today he is going to explore metabolic syndrome and how evidence-based lifestyle measures can prevent and treat chronic diseases including type 2 diabetes.
