Good afternoon

HEE Wessex School of QI Update; Recruitment to QI Fellowship 2018/19 now open, QI Support Fund 2018/19, and Human Factors 2 day Programme

We are delighted to let you know about some initiatives that have just been launched by the HEE Wessex School of Quality Improvement. Please see details below and feel free to share this email with any colleagues who may be interested.

Individual QI Fellowship 2018/19 – application deadline: 9am, Tuesday 3 April 2018

We are now inviting applications for our 12 month Individual Quality Improvement Fellowship programme 2018/19. This Fellowship programme is suited to those early on in their Quality Improvement career; it is not an advanced programme.

The fellowship will offer the opportunity to work on specific quality improvement projects in order to address priority areas for improvement and work at systems-level to address variability in quality of care, focussing on care pathways and service redesign. Successful delivery of the project will need multi-professional engagement within the organisation. Appointment to the programme will allow Fellows to be released from their current role for two days a week (40%), with their employer being reimbursed for these salary costs in order to be able to release them to participate in the programme. The Fellowship will start in September 2018 and attendance at a Launch and Close event alongside monthly education days is required.

Quality Improvement Support Fund 2018/19 – bid application deadline: 9am, Tuesday 3 April 2018

As a new initiative for 2018/19, the HEE Wessex School of Quality Improvement is now inviting bids from across the Wessex region to support quality improvement activity and development during 2018/19. Bids can be for a maximum of £10,000. We ask that the funding is utilised between September 2018 – September 2019 (although the piece of work or development may not span this entire period). Those who are successful in being awarded monies from this support fund will be required to present their work at a celebration event in autumn 2019.

We ask that the funding is used to support either:

Human Factors 2-day programme – new dates added for 2018/19

Due to the success of our 2 day human factors programme in 2017/18, we are offering additional dates in 2018/19. Booking for these will open in due course.

The aim of the course is to learn how human factors awareness can enhance performance at individual and team level. This two day course covers the reasons why information exchange, shared mental models, collaborative decision making and new models of distributive leadership are key to facilitating appropriate prioritisation and delegation of patient care. The course would be particularly useful for those who are currently involved in or planning to engage in service development or quality improvement work.

Dates for 2018/19 are:
