Naming and shaming of GPs - cancer

Dear Colleague

I hope you will have read my letter to local papers in response to the article in the Daily Mail on Sunday.  In case you missed this or wish to refresh your memory please look at the Wessex LMC website.

I have sent this letter to all local MPs.  To have the greatest impact It would be helpful if you would contact your local MP and express your view as one of their constituents.  This is particularly powerful if you know them personally. By doing this local MPs are likely to ask questions of Health Ministers and hopefully will get the message that this proposal is a bad idea and will not deliver a solution to the issue they are trying to address. You can email your MP by clicking here.

I have had a discussion with a local MP and explained that there are better ways to improve survival rates and earlier diagnosis and that as a representative organisation we are in discussion with the Cancer Network to find a more positive solution.

Best wishes

Nigel
