This training will be run over Zoom. To participate you will need to install Zoom on your device, and ensure it is has a microphone, speaker, and camera. Please Note: Some trainers will no longer allow you to stay on the call if you do not have your camera operating.

To participate you will need a device capable of running Zoom, that also has a microphone and speaker, a camera is beneficial but not essential.

Introduction 

This 2 hour session will help you understand how to effectively communicate with your patients and the media.

In this session Karen will help you understand why effective communications are so important, and how to do them. You'll learn the key components of a crisis communications plan and the skills you need to develop your key messages.

Karen Ainley is lead trainer and CEO of Mosaic Media Training. Karen is a former newspaper journalist and BBC radio and TV reporter. She was previously a Health Reporter and has used that experience in nearly 25 years of training with health settings across the UK as well as hundreds of organisations, including government departments, blue chip companies and charities. She supports many well known organisations with their crisis communications providing both strategic advice as well as 24/7 call out support.

  • How to have positive communication with your patients
  • How to communicate change in a positive way
  • Mosaic's ACES of effective communication - from Achieve to Style
  • Scenario key message development exercise  
  • Interview practical 
    • "As real" interview with 1 delegate observed by group

Objectives 

Delegates will leave primed to communicate well with patients and the media on a day to day basis, which will help if a communication crisis occurs when the media come looking for answers.

Karen is the founder of Mosaic Publicity and has an MSc in Digital Marketing Communications, a BA (Hons) in Publishing & Computer Studies and holds the Google Analytics Individual Qualification certification. Karen is an expert at devising integrated PR, marketing and crisis strategies. A former newspaper reporter, BBC radio newsreader, BBC Look East TV presenter and reporter, Karen works with clients on a strategic level and regularly delivers media training.

All GPs and members of staff working within GP practices in the Wessex LMCs’ catchment area

This option is for everyone working in a Practice in the Wessex LMC catchment area that does not fit into one of the other options on offer.

£50.00

Non Members

This is the cost if you are not working in a Practice in the Wessex LMCs catchment area. £100.00

Waiting List

Please be advised there are spaces available on this course unless it states otherwise. If a course is full you will be given the option to book on the waiting list. If you are on the waiting list and a place becomes available, you will be notified automatically you do NOT need to contact Wessex LMCs. 

Refunds

All delegate fees are non-refundable, however, if it has been agreed that a refund is possible, it will be subject to an administration charge of £5 for fees of £100 or less, or £10 for fees more than £100.

Attendance Details

In certain circumstances, we will share details of attendance or non-attendance with the person who booked and/or funded this course for the delegate.
