Introduction

Drawing on the work of Viktor Frankl and other leading existential thinkers, this workshop will provide opportunities for participants to experience how to work with some of life’s ‘big questions’ from an existential perspective.

This session is suitable for all health care professionals with an interest in exploring life’s big questions for their own personal and professional development; and in helping patients to confront life’s challenges.

Aims

  • Exploring and helping patients to explore existential questions, including:
    • Free Will,
    • Mortality
    • Isolation
    • Emotion,
    • Experience and Embodiment
  • Faith-based and Atheistic approaches to finding Meaning and Purpose
  • A look at suffering, coping and growth

Objectives

By the end of the workshop, participants will:

  • Be able to reflect effectively on life’s big questions
  • Have learned about existential approaches to coping with uncertainty
  • Have practiced how to help patients to explore and resolve key existential questions
  • Understand existential approaches to hope and joy.

Trainer

John Perry has delivered coaching, workshop facilitation and consultancy to a wide range of world-class organisations, including financial services, media, manufacturing, government, policing, and health services.

John is a former Principal Teaching Fellow at a leading Russel Group University, and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. He has published over a dozen articles and is a regular speaker at international conferences, including the International Conference of the Association for Coaching. John was the winner of SUSU’s ‘Most Engaging Lecturer’ award for 2020.

John has particular expertise in the areas of Psychological Wellbeing, Stress Management & Resilience, Values Exploration, Overcoming Imposter Syndrome and Promoting Unconditional Self-Acceptance.

John holds 4 Masters’ degrees, including in Health Psychology & Psychotherapy, and Professional Certifications in Coaching, Counselling, Hypnotherapy, Existential Analysis, Reality Therapy, Transactional Analysis, NLP, Personal Construct Psychology, Group Work and Supervision. He is a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and holds accreditations in both Strengthscope and the Strength Deployment Inventory and in ‘Time to Think’, ‘Wingwave’ and ‘Therapeutic’ Coaching.

This option is for everyone working in a Practice in the Wessex LMC catchment area that does not fit into one of the other options on offer.

Non Members

This is the cost if you are not working in a Practice in the Wessex LMCs catchment area. £100.00

Please be advised there are spaces available on this course unless it states otherwise. If a course is full you will be given the option to book on the waiting list. If you are on the waiting list and a place becomes available, you will be notified automatically you do NOT need to contact Wessex LMCs. 

Refunds

All delegate fees are non-refundable, however, if it has been agreed that a refund is possible, it will be subject to an administration charge of £5 for fees of £100 or less, or £10 for fees more than £100.
