This training will be run over Zoom. To participate you will need to install Zoom on your device, and ensure it is has a microphone, speaker, and camera. Please Note: Some trainers will no longer allow you to stay on the call if you do not have your camera operating.

This training is run over 2 days and you will need to participate in both sessions to be eligible for a Certificate of attendance.

Introduction

Thoughtfully condensed in to 2 x 2-hour interactive sessions, this training is for anyone interested in having more productive, effective and energising meetings.   Underpinned by the 10 components of the Thinking Environment® conceived by Nancy Kline and outlined in her book, ‘More Time to Think’, the session will give participants the ability to: 

  • Set engaging agendas that get participants thinking before they arrive
  • Facilitate engaging meetings that achieve better results and in less time
  • Draw on the resourcefulness of meeting attendees
  • Create an environment for teams to be imaginative in their problem solving
  • Ensure that high quality thinking goes beyond the meeting itself

Objectives

Participation in these sessions will help participants to transform ALL their meetings including:

  • Practice meetings
  • Team Meetings
  • Partnership meetings
  • Significant event meetings
  • Educational Meetings
  • Clinical meetings

Content

Agenda for Day 1 (2 hours)

  • What makes for a poor meeting?
  • What are the 10 components of a Thinking Environment™ and where are they present/absent in our current meetings?
  • What are the ‘building blocks’ for a productive meeting?
  • How does a Thinking Pair work and when might we use it?
  • How do we give and receive appreciation to support good thinking?
  • How do we set engaging agendas

Agenda for Day 2 (2 hours)

  • What have you tried-out/experienced/reflected since session 1?
  • How do we ‘do’ dialogue and rounds well and when could we use them?
  • What are the challenges of open discussion and when is it useful?
  • What is the Time to Think Council and when and how could we use it?
  • What has been most useful and what will we do?

Trainer

Tim has been a GP for over 20 years. Alongside an interest in pain management, he also developed skills in NLP and Coaching which he has used within and alongside his work in primary care. He has trained as a Time to Think Coach, Coach Supervisor and Meetings Facilitator. His portfolio of work includes the coaching and education of doctors in training through the SY&H Post Graduate Deanery and especially, GP Trailblazers and Leadership Fellows. Another significant aspect of his work is the training of the health, social and community care workforce in personalised care approaches, with an emphasis on health coaching, through Peak Health Coaching Ltd.
He blends Action Learning with Nancy Kline’s Thinking Environment™ to create an environment where individuals and groups can think at their very best.

This option is for everyone working in a Practice in the Wessex LMC catchment area that does not fit into one of the other options on offer.

Non Members

This is the cost if you are not working in a Practice in the Wessex LMCs catchment area. £225.00

PLEASE NOTE : THIS IS A FULLY FUNDED COURSE FOR DELEGATES WHO ATTEND.  THE DELEGATE FEE OF £225 WILL BE CHARGED TO ANYONE WHO DOES NOT ATTEND AND HAS NOT CANCELLED THEIR PLACE VIA EMAIL 14 DAYS BEFORE THE START OF THE COURSE

Please be advised there are spaces available on this course unless it states otherwise. If a course is full you will be given the option to book on the waiting list. If you are on the waiting list and a place becomes available, you will be notified automatically you do NOT need to contact Wessex LMCs. 

Refunds

All delegate fees are non-refundable, however, if it has been agreed that a refund is possible, it will be subject to an administration charge of £5 for fees of £100 or less, or £10 for fees more than £100.

In certain circumstances, we will share details of attendance or non-attendance with the person who booked and/or funded this course for the delegate. If you have any objection to your attendance status being shared, please can you contact Louise Greenwood (Director of Education & Training, Wessex LMCs) at least 48 hours before the start of the training on louise.greenwood@wessexlmcs.org.uk
