ZOOM ONLINE EVENT This training will be run over Zoom from an account owned by the Trainer and NOT Wessex LMCs NB: This means we will need to provide the trainers with your email address and contact details - continuing with a booking on this basis will constitute your tacit agreement to this. To participate you will need to install Zoom on your device, ensure it has a microphone, speaker, and camera. Please Note: Some trainers will no longer allow you to stay on the call if you do not have your camera operating.

This interactive session will be delivered via Zoom and will also include hands-on practical exercises discussed in light of each delegate’s own practice protocol.  To participate you will need a device capable of running Zoom, that also has a microphone and speakers, a camera is beneficial but not essential.

Introduction 

This course is suitable for:

  • Any staff managing medical records systems.
  • Staff responsible for undertaking the organising, sorting and summarising of medical records and also for those for whom this may become part of their role.
  • Staff responsible for clinical data entry including QOF data.

The Summarising Medical Records online course will allow delegates to learn how to organise and summarise medical records. Delegates will be taught some relevant medical abbreviations and terminology and confidentiality issues surrounding summarising medical records will be explored. In addition the course enables delegates to understand the relevance of summarising in relation to the achievement of QOF clinical targets. 

Aims

The course will cover:

  • Overview of paper and electronic medical records
  • Organising and pruning medical records
  • Protocol formation
  • Summarising medical records and editing the electronic patient record (EPR)
  • Summarising and the effect on QOF and disease areas
  • Data protection and confidentiality
  • Terms and abbreviations
  • Summarising practical exercise

Objectives

This course is designed to enable delegates to:

  • Understand the importance of summarising medical records
  • Understand best practice regarding the summarising process and the importance of having a protocol for summarising medical records
  • Be able to summarise medical records logically, efficiently and effectively
  • Gain an overview of QOF targets and how summarising can help in achievement of these targets
  • Understand the importance of confidentiality and data protection in the process of summarising
  • Be able to identify issues that they need to follow up when returning to their place of work

Alison has a BSc. Hons degree in Physiology and Pharmacology and has almost 30 years’ experience as an associate trainer. Married with a grown up daughter, when she is not training she can usually be found in a muddy field or forest with her spaniels.

This option is for everyone working in a Practice in the Wessex LMC catchment area that does not fit into one of the other options on offer.

Non Members

This is the cost if you are not working in a Practice in the Wessex LMCs catchment area. £260.00

Waiting List

Please be advised there are spaces available on this course unless it states otherwise. If a course is full you will be given the option to book on the waiting list. If you are on the waiting list and a place becomes available, you will be notified automatically you do NOT need to contact Wessex LMCs. 

Refunds

All delegate fees are non-refundable, however, if it has been agreed that a refund is possible, it will be subject to an administration charge of £5 for fees of £100 or less, or £10 for fees more than £100.

In certain circumstances, we will share details of attendance or non-attendance with the person who booked and/or funded this course for the delegate.
