ZOOM ONLINE EVENT This training will be run over Zoom from an account owned by the Trainer and NOT Wessex LMCs NB: This means we will need to provide the trainers with your email address and contact details - continuing with a booking on this basis will constitute your tacit agreement to this. To participate you will need to install Zoom on your device, ensure it has a microphone, speaker, and camera. Please Note: Some trainers will no longer allow you to stay on the call if you do not have your camera operating.

Log into Zoom 09:15 session runs 09:30 to 12:30 on both days

This session will be delivered via Zoom and will also include hands-on practical exercises using hard copy material supplied by the Trainers before the session.  To participate you will need a device capable of running Zoom, that also has a microphone and speaker, a camera is beneficial but not essential.

You are required to attend both days to be eligible for your certificate of attendance.

Introduction 

This training will be suitable for non-clinical staff dealing with prescriptions on a regular or ad hoc basis.

Aims

The Prescription & Prescribing Explained course will help delegates to ensure that their role contributes to the safe, efficient and cost-effective running of the general practice prescribing process

Objectives

The objectives of the course are to enable delegates to:

  • understand how medicines are developed
  • understand the terms generic, brand and branded generic and their use
  • recognise the classification of medicines
  • recognise medicine and prescription terminology and abbreviations
  • recognise legal aspects of prescribing
  • identify the journey of a prescription
  • understand the role of the Medicines Management Team
  • understand the role of the general practice prescription clerk/administrator and the responsibilities and limitations of the role.

Alison has a BSc. Hons degree in Physiology and Pharmacology and has almost 30 years’ experience as an associate trainer. Married with a grown up daughter, when she is not training she can usually be found in a muddy field or forest with her spaniels.

This option is for everyone working in a Practice in the Wessex LMC catchment area that does not fit into one of the other options on offer.

Non Members

This is the cost if you are not working in a Practice in the Wessex LMCs catchment area. £430.00

Waiting List

Please be advised there are spaces available on this course unless it states otherwise. If a course is full you will be given the option to book on the waiting list. If you are on the waiting list and a place becomes available, you will be notified automatically you do NOT need to contact Wessex LMCs. 

Refunds

All delegate fees are non-refundable, however, if it has been agreed that a refund is possible, it will be subject to an administration charge of £5 for fees of £100 or less, or £10 for fees more than £100.

In certain circumstances, we will share details of attendance or non-attendance with the person who booked and/or funded this course for the delegate.
