This 3-day course is for nurses who would like a deeper understanding of how to assess, diagnose and treat commonly occurring conditions in the community.  Nurses will be encouraged to extend their current level of competency through working with others as well as attending this three day course.  It is aimed at experienced general practice nurses who will be working directly with and supervised by GPs and or experienced Advanced Nurse Practitioners.

This course aims to provide the in-depth additional enhanced skills and knowledge necessary for GPNs to provide care for patients who present with specific minor illnesses.

The study days are based around the various systems of the body and particular attention will be paid to history taking and diagnosis.  Attendees will be encouraged to think about the appropriate management of these conditions, as well as recognising when referral to other members of the extended multi-disciplinary team may be indicated, for example when ‘red flags’ have been identified.

Please note this session will NOT be recorded
