This training will be run over Zoom. To participate you will need to install Zoom on your device, and ensure it is has a microphone, speaker, and camera. Please Note: Some trainers will no longer allow you to stay on the call if you do not have your camera operating.

To participate you will need a device capable of running Zoom, that also has a microphone and speaker, a camera is beneficial but not essential.


Fiona Smith from Kraft HR Consulting Ltd will lead this HR Bite Size for Practice Management on Safer Recruitment. Fiona will be joined by Karen Jefferies, one of our PM Supporters who will assist the session by making it practical and relevant to life on the ground in a GP Surgery.

Kraft HR will explain to you how to manage a situation when a candidate who appears amazing comes back with a disclosure on their DBS check or what happens if one of your current employees gets a conviction during employment. 


During this session we will be looking at:

  • What is safer recruitment?
  • Underpinning employment law
  • Key safeguarding elements of the practice recruitment and selection policy statement
  • Risk assessment of convictions
  • Conviction in employment


Participation in this event will help you to be more confident about these areas of HR in Primary Care.

 In addition the safer recruitment principles are CQC inspection compliant.

I am currently Employee Relations Business Partner for Kraft HR Consulting Ltd who supports clients with all aspects of HR including the recruitment of various positions within primary care. I have also previously worked for an NHS Federation conducting high volume recruitment of ARRS roles and practice staff.  I, therefore, have an understanding that conducting safer recruitment and having processes in place tries to ensure the valuable time spent on recruitment runs smoothly.

Karen Jefferies has been a PM Supporter since 2013 and derives a great deal of satisfaction from being able to help and support other PMs where she can. She dosen’t profess to know all the answers but will work with PMs to help them find their own solutions. During her time as a PM, Karen has had the privilege to work alongside some of the most professional, committed and hardworking managers.

All GPs and members of staff working within GP practices in the Wessex LMCs’ catchment area

This option is for everyone working in a Practice in the Wessex LMC catchment area that does not fit into one of the other options on offer.


Non Members

This is the cost if you are not working in a Practice in the Wessex LMCs catchment area. £40.00

Waiting List

Please be advised there are spaces available on this course unless it states otherwise. If a course is full you will be given the option to book on the waiting list. If you are on the waiting list and a place becomes available, you will be notified automatically you do NOT need to contact Wessex LMCs. 


All delegate fees are non-refundable, however, if it has been agreed that a refund is possible, it will be subject to an administration charge of £5 for fees of £100 or less, or £10 for fees more than £100.

Attendance Details

In certain circumstances, we will share details of attendance or non-attendance with the person who booked and/or funded this course for the delegate.
