Early detection of hypertension is vital and there is evidence that community pharmacy has a key role in detection and subsequent treatment of hypertension and CVD, improving outcomes and reducing the burden on GPs.
Debby Crockford, Chief Officer at Community Pharmacy South Central, introduces us to ‘ A Case Finding Hypertension Service’ which is an interplay between Primary Care and pharmacies. Debby explains how the service works and addresses potential concerns GPs may have.

Community Pharmacist Consultation Service (CPCS) – Everything you need to know
The NHS Community Pharmacist Consultation Service launched in October 2019 as an advanced service. Since 1st November 2020, general practices have been able to refer patients for a minor illness consultation via CPCS, once a local referral pathway has been agreed.
Carolyn Beale, Support & Implementation Manager from Community Pharmacy Swindon and Wiltshire joins Dr Laura Edwards, Medical Director at Wessex LMCs. Carolyn explains more about how the service works and the benefits for GPs.
