The Committee of the BaNES, Swindon & Wiltshire LMC (also known as BSW LMC) meets 6 times a year, and its constitution allows for the following members to be elected, nominated, co-opted or invited;
- 20 Geographical GP members, elected from 5 constituencies
- 2 Sessional GP seats (Elected)
- An additional 5 GPs to represent a particular area of expertise not otherwise represented on the Committee (Co-optees – 2 of these are reserved for GPs in First Five Years)
- An additional 5 Invitees who hold particular expertise of relevance to the committee (Invitees)
- 1 Trainee GP (Invitee)
- The Chief Executives of Wessex LMCs (Co-optees)
- 1 Representative from the General Practitioners Committee of England (Invitee)
- 1 additional Sessional GP (Co-optee)
- 1 GP Representative from the Out of Hours Service (Invitee)
- 1 Educational Representative (Invitee)
- 1 Military Invitee (Invitee)
- The Committee can also have up to 4 Practice Manager Invitees (Invitees)
The Committee can also invite ‘Observers’, who may participate in the debates, but do not have a vote, and in BSW these include all Directors of the Wessex LMCs.
Elections are held every two years under the terms of the LMC constitution, and all GP Members are eligible for nomination and election. Sessional GPs i.e. those who are not Partners, may choose to stand in their geographical area, or for sessional seats.

Dr Julia Gregg (Vice Chair of Wessex LMCs Board)
Julia qualified in 2005 from University of Bristol and has trained and practiced locally since, completing Foundation jobs in Cheltenham/Gloucester and GP Training in Swindon. She worked as a salaried GP in a Swindon practice for 9 years, and during that time married and had 2 children. She took up a partnership in a recently merged super-partnership in Swindon in 2020, navigating the challenges of the pandemic and working at board level, while simultaneously completing the HFMA Diploma in Advanced Primary Care Management with a distinction in Personal Effectiveness and Leadership. In 2024 she embarked upon a portfolio career which has allowed her to increase her LMC commitments and explore new avenues such as GP appraisals and out of hours work, alongside working in both a locum and salaried capacity in Swindon and North Wiltshire. Outside of work she enjoys an active life with hobbies in dinghy sailing and competes in a Women’s Football League. She is passionate about General Practice as a profession and the role of the LMC in supporting it.

Dr Katherine Teare
Katherine trained at Imperial College, qualifying in 2005. After foundation training in London and Surrey she moved to Bath where she completed her GP training. Having stayed on at her training practice in Trowbridge before another salaried role in Bath she moved to Rowden Surgery in 2018, becoming a partner in 2023. Katherine joined the LMC as a representative in 2022 and is an advocate for the partnership model of General Practice. Married to Roland, a GP partner in Melksham, they have 3 daughters and when not engaged in the parent taxi rota she enjoys running (slowly), Pilates and walking
