To employ doctors in Primary Care, a practice has to check they are on a Perfomers List in the same country.  A Criminal Records Bureau check is necessary to get onto the list.  This is how Hampshire PPSA deals with colleagues from overseas.

"This policy has been adopted for use in Hampshire & the Isle of Wight by the PPSA, the agency that manages the process for inclusion on performers lists on behalf of the PCTs. Practices outside Hampshire & Isle of Wight should contact the equivalent agency for their area to find what requirements have been agreed in their area. It has been included on the LMC site because practices may want to use it for reference in connection with their own recruitment process when appointing a doctor or any other member of staff from outside the UK."
