Locally Enhanced Services

Enhanced Services are always optional for practices to provide and LES specifications are developed by each PCT to be flexible in addressing population needs.  The LMC will not endorse a LES where consultation has taken place, but it will always negotiate with the PCT and try to reach the best deal possible.

When a new LES is commissioned by a PCT there has been some confusion about the LMC's involvement i.e. some LESs are being presented to practices as ones where the LMC has been consulted and practices have mistakenly thought that the LMC has agreed to them.

To make it absolutely clear, from the 1st October 2008, Wessex LMCs is implementing the following categorisation of LESs where there are various outcomes:

Full consultation with LMC by the PCT

green light

Consultation with the LMC, the LMC suggested changes which

were not accepted by the PCT

Amber light
