Medical Director Vacancy
These are challenging times for general practice. There has been much change and there is clearly more to come. On behalf of Wessex general practitioners the LMC works with all other organisations to ensure that the interests of our constituents and of the profession are represented and heard. We are now looking to appoint an additional Medical Director to work within the Senior Management team.
You should be a medical practitioner working in general practice and have a good working knowledge of the various GP/Primary Care Regulations (GMS, PMS, APMS etc) in order to guide LMCs in regulatory, legal, complaints and contractual matters. You will also be required to act as a source of advice on a wide range of issues to GPs seeking help from the LMC.
The medical director post will be based in Winchester until approximately February 2009 when we will be moving to Chandlers Ford. Some flexibility on the days of the week which are worked would be beneficial and some travel will be required. The appointee will be expected to continue to work as a General Practitioner in general practice.
