Introduction

This live, online, instructor led course, is for all practice nurses looking for an update in this area of general practice. Health is constantly changing and disease outbreaks do happen. It is vital therefore that healthcare professionals who provide a travel health service feel equipped to be able to offer the best advice to travellers, as well as being able to signpost themselves and travellers to the latest guidelines.

Aims & Objectives

Learners will be equipped to be able to offer the best advice to travellers, as well as being able to signpost themselves and travellers to the latest guidelines.

Content

We will be looking at:

  • The role of the clinician in travel health
  • Resource signposting
  • Risk Assessment
  • International Health Regulations
  • Travel vaccinations
  • Malaria
  • Travellers’ diarrhoea
  • Yellow Fever

NB: The RCN (2023) published updated guidance on “the current guidelines and standard of care of travellers”.  Click here to access the RCN web page and their document, “Competencies: Travel health nursing: career and competence development”:
