Introduction
How do you say no to a patient without feeling like you've let them down?
As clinicians, we're trained to help, solve problems and find solutions. But sometimes patient expectations can't be met — whether they're unrealistic or simply beyond what the current healthcare system can deliver.
Trying to “rescue” these situations can leave clinicians feeling frustrated, overwhelmed and increasingly at risk of burnout.
Aims
This interactive and thought provoking workshop aims to give you practical models, techniques and language to help you set boundaries, manage expectations and navigate difficult conversations with confidence.
Content
During the workshop we will explore how to:
- Say no confidently and compassionately
- Manage expectations when you can't deliver what a patient wants
- Set clear boundaries while maintaining rapport
- Handle challenging conversations and reduce conflict
- Protect your own time, energy and professional wellbeing
