New Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA) regulations

  • New Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA) regulations were to have been introduced in Autumn 2009 but this has now been delayed until July 2010 for new staff and October 2010 for existing staff
  • The Scheme is being phased in over a five-year period
  • ISA-registration will not remove the need to carry out a CRB check on any person working with vulnerable people.

Once the new ISA Vetting and Barring scheme comes into effect checking ISA registration status will be essential to ensure that you are not appointing someone who poses a known risk to children and/or vulnerable adults and to meet the legal requirements placed on employers by the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act.
