LMC Directors

About the Hampshire and Isle of Wight LMC

The Committee of the Hampshire and IoW LMC consists of 26 members elected from 10 constituencies, covering the whole of Hampshire and the Isle of Wight and is the largest LMC in the country.

In addition, there is provision for an elected Ophthalmic Medical Practitioner member, a representative of Salaried GPs and several other persons, who are co-opted or invited to attend.

The LMC meets eight times a year and it has been decided to appoint 6 GPs to represent their loacal areas and 3 of them to become formal Vice-Chairmen. In addition, members serve on several other Committees both locally and nationally.

Elections are held every two years under the terms of the LMC constitution, and all GPs are eligible for nomination and election.  The Constitution is being changed to allow all doctors in primary care to stand so including salaried doctors.
